"Conspiracies, culture wars, and vituperative partisanship remade politics in the ’90s, but perhaps even more determinative was the infotainment and provocation introduced by cable TV and talk radio." (via Mefi)

Finally got around to reading Pater's πΌπ‘šπ‘Žπ‘”π‘–π‘›π‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘¦ π‘ƒπ‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘‘π‘Ÿπ‘Žπ‘–π‘‘π‘ , on my bookshelf since 2004, according to the pencil'd price inside. This one was printed in 1894, & dozens of the pages were still uncut. I keep a special knife for this purpose.

Negative review of Emily Dickinson‘s POEMS used by her publisher as a blurb for the second edition.

too jealously adjusting · the jolly top's spin
than carnal accord · where world welters
arrives at a wrench · ruing hour
but fared before · this way & lived

i learn so little · from length of traipsing
staid staying · studying tiles
but gather whispers · like dust whippets
& stars · strung in jagged strands

Boom box.
