fake spiderwebs shine in October sun
burning my cheek a bit as i plot my detour
seems that must be part of ev'ry drive
but it's not like i could just give up & walk
what is my part in this & what can i say
to my deluded fellow humans that might urge
a less insane trajectory for all
nor even how we'd fix it should they listen
so we are left to mitigate our doom
piecemeal & haphazard & with burning
loss, while we are still engrossed in dreams
& habits we are far too weak to nudge
we could have helped ourselves before my time
