Ignorant and unfit.

"Pyriphlegethon"

Twinkle-giant tranche · the trees bring,
echoed in empire, · age—one wearies
of descrying these · scriptural saws—
next, say something · concerning verdoy
as befits fixer · of foul sentences.
Light of October, · touching inly.

Really it's only · individuals
whom dire Duration · divvies into splinters.
Limned this moment · motion of a branch
a sparrow sped · leaves quivering.
No before or after · nothing but flicker.
Light of October, · touching inly.

Each woe a world, · this wisp standing;
tremor in my hand, · the hard viewing
of noxious news · the neck broken
again & again · of the crown achieved,
all of this forever · in fiery blossom:
Light of October, · touching inly.

Affairs in order.

"She saved up her pocket money to buy a copy of Virgil’s Aeneid, which her friend Percival helped her to understand, but when she got hold of a Greek grammar book that was taking things too far. ‘I do not see how Greek grammar is to help little Jane to keep house when she has a home of her own’ her stepmother told her father." —Ann Kennedy Smith via
