"Getting rid of physical books because we now have databases is like getting rid of sunshine because of the existence of vitamin-D pills and cod liver oil." (There's a bit of weird semi-racist/homophobic nonsense in here which is completely irrelevant to the main point, & i don't endorse it, but the main point is sound.)

"Might autumn perhaps
utter its final farewell
through the calling stag
at dark Ogurayama,
mountain of the crescent moon?"

Jerusalem.

The Asemic movement was starting just as my own trajectory (to be a bit pretentious) was taking me into artificial languages--later "conlangs"--instead. At the same time my paintings were growing more & more calligraphic, until i realized i had to go back & look at precursors like Tobey & Twombly (not to mention the painting of Zen). About the only theory i had at that point...was the Tao te Ching: "those who know/ don't say".

Bad history.
