call waiting

from a jar at WalMart

half ozone
half pine trees

the mind cleared
by having waked with the day

all the way there
you only have to take readiness

rainbow above the bronze leaves
galaxies of dark matter
i found a courtyard

devoid of historical
or even tourist int'rest
& sat

on the somewhat dusty curb
& listened,
sat list'ning

for i don't know how long

on the way to the dumpster
a woman stops her car
& asks me

if i know where the "Cash" is

her car's shuddering
& making weird noises
i tell her there's a dollar store

but she says no, she wants to find the "cash"
store
& wheels away
